To celebrate my 24th birthday, I took myself on a cruise to the Bahamas! I had the best time and honestly it was the best vacation ever. I was so blessed to be joined with my wonderful friends (left to right): Jasmine, Phoebe, Brielle and Ashley!

Around three in the morning, I decided to go up to the third floor to look out into the water. Some of my friends were sleep and then some went out to eat. When I got to the dock, I took a seat and prayed. I was so thankful to be on my dream vacation for my birthday. Last year I honestly wouldn’t have been able to afford a cruise but as always, God provided. I looked out into the beautiful Bahamian water as the waves hit upon the boat and cried. I cried happy tears just thinking about the goodness of God. I remember putting the word “cruise” on my vision board in January and wow here it was in front of me. I seized the moment.

In the midst of me praying, I also took the time to breathe. Being real, April was a rough month for me emotionally. A lot of rejection letters from news stations came in and I was starting to feel overwhelmed. I was pushing every day working both of my jobs and felt the need to just refresh. The cruise gave me that opportunity.

A lot of times we forget to hit the refresh button and take the time out for ourselves. Work, extracurricular activities, family, church, etc., can consume our everyday lives. It can also take a huge toll on our bodies if we are not remaining healthy and getting the proper rest.

My encouragement for you all this week to take time out of your busy schedules to relax and have some "me" time. Even if that means taking off a day from work and just watching Netflix all day. It is so important to take time for ourselves. Items can be replaced but you cannot. Your life is valuable and there is work for you to be done.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)

I thank God for the gift of rest. Now I can’t go on a cruise every time I get overwhelmed, but what I can do it take some time for Tyrah and you have to do the same for yourself.

Take a day and do what you love to do. Enjoy cooking? Take a cooking class to relax. Like to dance? Go salsa dancing. Love serving? Volunteer at a homeless shelter with a church group. Need to catch up on sleep? Sleep.

Do what you have to do to make sure you’re living your best and blessed life!

Love,
Tyrah

Okay!!! I can totally relate. Lol not to the cruise part, but definitely taking some time out for me. Even spending a week without being on social media. It’s so important that we take care of ourselves and rest. 💗 Thank you for this reminder.
